A Huge Success: Valence's Speech
"Last Thursday's Peace Club event was a huge success. Congratulations to organizers Trevor Hudgins and Ian May. Special thanks to Valence Lutisaire for coming all the way from Uganda to introduce us to YOFAFO. Thanks also to Ms. Barbarick for opening her room so we could webcast to an overflow crowd.
The purpose of Peace Club ("First rule: talk about Peace Club") is to improve global understanding by identifying and investing in small businesses. Traditionally we have worked through Kiva-- now we are able to establish a direct connection to loan recipients. Have a look at the videos that follow and visit YOFAFO and the Peace Club if you are interested in participating."

It was great having a classroom filled to the brim for Valence Lutaisire to deliver his story and dreams to! He gave us his thanks afterwards for our support.
On this topic of support; in the very near future, the Peace Club will be collaborating with YOFAFO and joining arms to grow together. We hope we can help take YOFAFO to the next level through a similar funding mechanism as used by Kiva.org. We will be raising a separate fund to loan specifically to YOFAFO.
It will be a terrific experience to have direct contact with the people we are helping!

Club Meeting: Valence Has Arrived!
Here is what needs to be done this meeting:
1.) Discuss what needs to be done to communicate with the Foreign Exchange Club.
2.) Appoint club members who are brave enough to speaking in front of their classes to inform those classes and invite them to our special meeting with Valence.
3.) Loan the money given to Dr. Preston to the chosen individual. Chose a person that only needs $25 to complete the loan! To find such a person, sort by amount left on the little bar on the right. Then, read the individual's Kiva profile and loan!
This will be Peace Club's First Loan of the Year!
4.) Dr. Preston and Ian will speak about Valence and the goals of getting a class room full of students to be his audience.
He came here all the way from Africa, he deserves an audience!
5.) At our next Peace Club meeting, Thursday, October 6th, the day of Valences speech, we will also be loaning to more individuals to demonstrate in action what it is we do to the audience.

Special Peace Club Meeting: UGANDA!
Next Thursday, 10/6 we will be hosting our Guest Speaker all the way from Uganda. We must communicate with the Foreign Exchange Club in order for this to happen successfully. We must have Foreign Exchange Club come to Dr. Preston's room that Thursday and essentially combine our two clubs into one club and one meeting.
Alex, is in charge and fully responsible for getting this news of our Guest Speaker onto the Daily Announcements. He will also be in charge of expediting the approval of our poster advertisements.
I will have the written announcement for ASB and these posters for ASB done as soon as possible. Most likely by tomorrow after school. So, I will turn them over to Alex by Wednesday before I.C.C.
This means our Club Event will be announced and advertised for 5 days prior to its occurrence.
I will also announce in person our event in all of my classes, I encourage all of you to do the same!
In addition, on Wednesday during the I.C.C. meeting I will be announcing this. As many people as possible must know and see this.
Lastly, by tomorrow I will have chosen our first two individuals to loan to so that our money will begin to grow and we can have a huge sum to loan further by 10/6 during our Guest Speaker meeting. This Thursday, Ian, Alex, and I, and whom ever else wishes to, will be announcing this and all of our plans to the Foreign Exchange Club. Hopefully they will all be thrilled! Trenton! I am metaphysically looking at you!
